Installation Instructions For #71 Snowguards
  1. Quantity depends on the roof slope and snow load.
  2. The #71 snowguard is designed for use with roofs where the roofing material does not allow for fastening between the shingles or tiles (interlocking tile for example) or random width slate where the layout using the #70 will not be symmetrical.
  3. Lay the snowguard and strap on the shingle so that the snowguard is on the exposed portion of the shingle.
  4. The copper strap should extend above the top edge of the shingle.
  5. Using compatible fasteners, fasten through the copper strap and into the roof deck.
  6. The next course of shingles should lay flat over the shingle and snowguard below.
  7. The wire snowguard causes the shingle to be canted or to not lay flat. Therefore, it will be necessary to install the snowguards so that the entire wire portion is on the exposure of the shingle. A longer copper strap may be necessary in some cases.
