Following one-contender valuations of Zakhidenergo (ZAEN UK) and Ukrtelecom (UTLM UK) in 2011-2012, Concorde predicts the deal price will not exceed the bid by more than 1%.Russia’s Transportation Supervisory Service stopped using 150 freight railcars containing casting parts made by Ukraine’s AzovElektrostal (56 units) and Kremenchuk Casting (94 units). The authority blamed three accidents between January 21 and 30 on defects in Ukraine-made side frames manufactured in 2010 and 2011. The ban affects all wagons equipped with similar side frames. Concorde analyst Roman Dmytrenko said, “The news has potentially negative implications for Ukrainian railcar producers Kryukiv Wagon (KVBZ UK) and Stakhaniv Wagon (SVGZ UK). The two casting suppliers whose products were effected by the ban are responsible for 56% of casting parts for CIS railcar producers and for over 95% of Ukrainian supplies. In addition, the three accidents raise the risk of a new suspension in quality certificates for Ukrainian casting producers (similar to what happened in October 2011), and calls into question the output targets of Ukrainian and Russian wagon makers for this year.”On the stock markets: Most Ukrainian stocks posted solid gains for the second straight day on Wednesday, as European shares rose following the release of positive manufacturing data from the US, China and the Eurozone. In London, Ferrexpo (FXPO LN) advanced 2.8%, Cadogan Petroleum (CAD LN) grew 2.7% and Avangard (AVGR LN) added 2.0%. In Warsaw, the WIG-Ukraine index of Ukrainian equities declined 0.4%, weighted down by losses in Kernel (KER PW) -1.5%, Astarta (AST PW) -1.6% and Westa (WES PW) -2.7%. The local UX index picked up 3.2% over the session, with all blue chips closing up. The best performers were Metinvest-controlled steelmakers, with Yenakiieve Steel (ENMZ UK) +8.0% and Azovstal (AZST UK) +6.7%.
